Transportation Emissions Reduction Strategies

<p><span style="font-size: small; font-family: Arial;">Survey consists of responses from professionals at 49 organizations (city/county/state departments of transportation, metropolitan planning organizations, and transit agencies) regarding the cost effectiveness of various transportation emissions reduction strategies. Topics/questions include:</span></p>

<li><span style="font-size: small; font-family: Arial;">Improving land use planning (transit oriented development, mixed use development, etc.)</span></li>
<li><span style="font-size: small; font-family: Arial;">Technological improvements to vehicles (hybrid vehicles, electric vehicles, etc.)</span></li>
<li><span style="font-size: small; font-family: Arial;">Improving traffic signal timing and synchronization</span></li>
<li><span style="font-size: small; font-family: Arial;">Increasing teleworking by subsidizing implementation and/or providing incentives for implementation</span></li>
<li><span style="font-size: small; font-family: Arial;">Increasing transit use by improving/expanding transit</span></li>
<li><span style="font-size: small; font-family: Arial;">Increasing transit use by subsidizing transit fares</span></li>
<li><span style="font-size: small; font-family: Arial;">Applying road pricing</span></li>
<li><span style="font-size: small; font-family: Arial;">Applying parking restrictions (local ordinances to specify a maximum rate of parking to be provided for new development rather than a minimum parking rate)</span></li>
<li><span style="font-size: small; font-family: Arial;">Increasing walking and biking by improving facilities</span></li>
<li><span style="font-size: small; font-family: Arial;">Increasing ride sharing by subsidizing implementation and/or providing incentives for implementation</span></li>
<li><span style="font-size: small; font-family: Arial;">Increasing the application of roundabouts (in place of traffic signals)</span></li>
<li><span style="font-size: small; font-family: Arial;">Increasing the application of advanced traffic management on highways (ramp metering, use of shoulders as a traffic lane during peak periods, etc.)</span></li>
